A Change In The Weather

I know we all keep saying it here in Ireland, but I cannot believe we are heading into Autumn, it really feels we missed out on any summer at all. Thats all I am going to say on the matter. So as my attention turns to woolly knits and polonecks, I have been looking through my imagery and quite like the look of these textile designs. Hopefully I can get them printed up and made into some nice products between now and Christmas. I know, its the "C' word already!!!! Yikes!

Peter Pan

I have been wanting to make collars for ages and finally got the chance. I love this broidery englaise that I discovered in my Mam's attic which she kindly donated to me, so I have been waiting to find the right pattern to come along.

Silky Singlet

All sewn up and ready for action. I love the textured stripes in this silk, just like a crinkled ribbon.

3 in a row

Next stop, photoshoot and then posting time on etsy.
Next project, collars, been itching to make some peter pan collars for ages now. Can't wait to get my teeth in.

Starting from the Start.

So after much toing and froing, I am finally getting be back to making. It's a very exciting time and I am so impatient to get everything going all at once, I get frustrated when each task takes so much longer than anticipated. Is anybody out there good at time management?
I have been searching and researching the optimum pattern cutting resource and have finally settled on one thats a good fit for me.  I am now in the process of starting all my patterns from scratch, previously my patterns were a hodge podge of different sources, but I find for selling clothing online, the sizing is more important so I am trying to be as accurate as possible.

Pattern cutting and grading.

Finalised pattern being used to cut out fabric.

Here is a sneak peek at my starter project, the silk tee. I could not help but have a delve into the fabric shops in Canada, and came back with some gorgeous silks in candy colours. Last of the summer wine, I hope to get these up before Autumn really kicks in. So summery, but I could't resist.

Sewn, folded, pressed and ready for application.

All the preparation done, just need to be sewn up now .

Inspiration

A few more inspirational photos from Canada...
It doesn't matter where you go in the Canadian Rockies, every photo is like a postcard. Just incredible natural beauty. These rocks were high up at a glacier, I'm not sure what type of rock they were, but they did sparkle like granite. The colour combinations were just beautiful.

Ok, check out the Fijian Bride and Groom outfits. Made from PAPER and hand painted!!!! I was completely blown away by them, the Grooms silhouette is amazing too. Apologies for the glass reflection, but unfortunately they would not let me climb inside to take a photo...
